Kansas State Fitasc and 5-Stand
Cedar Hill Gun Club, Baldwin, Kansas - by Kay Mein
July 17-18, 2010: Cedar Hill Gun Club, Baldwin, Kansas hosted the Kansas State Fitasc and 5-Stand Championships, July 17 and 18. Main event sponsors were Hodgdon, CZ-USA, King's Construction, and White Flyer. For each event entered shooters received a ticket to be placed in a drawing for prizes including a CZ-USA gun, which was won by B class shooter Galen Lerbs.
Temperatures soared into the upper 90's with heat indexes over 100. With little or no shade the Fitasc layouts were extremely hot, couple that with no breeze and everyone was down right miserable (typical July weather in Kansas.) After refereeing Parcour 2 for one rotation I was ready for some cold ice water and air-conditioning myself. Cedar Hill employees kept plenty of ice water and shade tents on the courses to give all shooters some respite from the heat. Events provided for the weekend were two 100 bird-sporting events, 100 bird Fitasc, 100 bird 5-stand, and the small gauge events. Fitasc targets were set by Dennis Linden while the sporting events were set by Cedar Hill club owners Pat and Mike.

Shooter Bags Bring Record Donations
Custom Shooter Bags Bring Record Donations To MN Youth Program
by Bryan Brophy, Shamrock Leathers
3 years ago the MN State Trap President Mark Zauhar asked if
Shamrock Leathers would put up a bag for the youth auction. I agreed to do
5 bags, 1 per year, of the big 5 safari animals. The bags are all numbered
on the inside. The bags are done in a pattern never to be offered for sale
to the public. They are truly one of a kind. The first bag, the elephant
went for $650 two years ago. The second, the cape buffalo, went for $650
last year. This year given our 100th anniversary, I did the remaining
three. There were many bidders and amounts rose quickly. The leopard went
for $3500, the lion for $3000, and the rhino for $600. Attached is a photo
of all the bags with 4 of the recipients and myself.
